A fire yesterday is suspected of having been started by fireworks. Several county volunteer fire departments responded, spending hours making sure it was out. Officials urge caution when using fireworks. (Mark Engebretson)
Officials are urging caution over the July 4 holiday as many areas, including Palo Pinto County, are dry.
While fireworks are legal and can be used, be careful as they can start fires. Unsupervised children should not be allowed to shoot off fireworks, not only because of the fire hazard, but also because of the potential for injury.
Officials want everyone to have a good time, relax and enjoy the holiday, but common sense and good judgement need to be part of the holiday.
As a reminder, fireworks sales, by state law, end at midnight.
