Monday morning, Palo Pinto County commissioners will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget and tax rate and Monday evening the Graford Independent School District Board of Trustees will do the same.
The maintenance and operations tax rate proposed by commissioners is 35.2 cents per $100 of assessed property value. That is a 6 percent increase of last year's rate of 33.2 cents.
The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Monday in the county courtroom at the courthouse.
The GISD proposed tax rate is $1.061244 for the coming year, down from last year's tax rate.
"It is a little less than it was last year," said GISD Superintendent Dennis Holt. "We will maintain a balanced budget. We're trying to be fiscally responsible, doing what we have to do."
This year's budget is proposed to be a little under $9.5 million, up a just over $358,000 over last year's budget.
The public meeting on the proposed budget and tax rate will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at the school library in Graford, 400 W. Division St.
