The TRIFECTA Triathlon will begin at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at Camp Grady Spruce at Possum Kingdom Lake Sunday, Sept. 15.
It features a swim course, bike route and run in both a sprint and Olympic distance.

Tuesday, Sept. 17
The Palo Pinto County Retired Teachers and School Employees Association will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Holiday Hills Country Club in Mineral Wells.
A special invitation is extended to all 2013 school district retirees as well as all residents of the county who are former school employees.
The program will be presented by William Eudy.
At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Boyce Ditto Public Library conference room, 2300 SE Martin Luther King Jr. St., anyone interested in history will be led down its path with an explanation of what it is, who is looking for it, where it can be found and how to collect the past and the present to give to future generations.
Friday, Sept. 20
The Graford Livestock Association will hold its 28th annual Jackrabbit 5K run and first annual BBQ Cook-off Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21, in downtown Graford.
Registration for the cook-off begins at 1 p.m. Friday.
Cooks will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Categories include beans, half chicken, pork ribs, pork butt, brisket and Dutch oven dessert.

Closest to the Pin
The annual Closest to the Pin, a fund-raiser for the Possum Kingdom Women's Club, will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, at the The Cliffs Golf Course.
The entry fee is $10 per ball, collected at the par-3 ninth hole.
A cash prize of $200 goes to the golfer who is the closest to the pin at the ninth hole.

The Graford Livestock Association's annual Jackrabbit 5K will be held beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, in downtown Graford.
There will be activities the entire day. Awards for the race will be given at 10 a.m. Free watermelon and juice will be provided.

The last day to register teams for Mineral Wells Parks and Recreation's adult volleyball leagues is Saturday, Sept. 28.
Adult men, women and co-ed teams may register. Cost per team is $220 for a 24-game season.

The Highway 16 National Register nomination will be heard at a State Board of Review meeting set for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Chandor Gardens in Weatherford.
The work to preserve the 8.4-mile segment of SH 16, located in Palo Pinto County, is east of Possum Kingdom Lake, north of the town of Brad, and west of the town of Graford. The nominated section of SH 16 extends from Brackeen Drive to SH 254.
The meeting is open to the public.

The Possum Kingdom Lions Club asked that medical equipment on loan that is no longer being used be returned to the Lions Club Building, 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays, or to Charlie's Angels Tuesday or Thursday mornings.
