Possum Kingdom State Park was the scene of training this weekend for a number of fire departments in wild land firefighting and incident management. Firefighters were briefed on equipment and techniques to control the spread of wildfires and three different scenarios were run simulating fires in the area of the state park. Dubbed the "PK Complex" training, areas were marked with red flags to denote areas of fire and firefighters were directed to establish perimeters, locate and neutralize hot spots and mitigate hazards. While personnel did use water, foam and hand tools, no actual fires were started for the training.
