The freezing line continues to move southeast as arctic air spreads over the region. At 10:45 it was located from near Lampasas to Hillsboro and Sulphur Springs. Areas of light freezing rain and sleet were increasing across the Metroplex and moving northeast at 30 mph. This precipitation will freeze to all elevated surfaces including bridges and overpasses through midday. Slick and icy roads are forming to the west, northwest and north of the Metroplex and deteriorating roads conditions will continue spread southeast through the day. Afternoon travel on I-20 will be dangerous between Abilene and the Metroplex, and I-35 will be dangerous from central Oklahoma to south of the Metroplex. Otherwise, it will be very cold as temperatures continue to fall. Gusty north winds will produce wind chill readings in the single digits and teens. Dress warmly and avoid excessive exposure to the cold.
