While February figures from the Texas Workforce Commission showed a slight increase in the unemployment rate in Palo Pinto County, those figures also show more people employed.
The February unemployment rate in the county was at 5.7 percent, up from 5.6 percent in January. That compares to an unemployment rate of 6.5 percent in February 2013.
The February workforce, reported as 14,490, was higher than January’s 14,341 and higher than February 2013’s 14,386.
Figures also show there were 13,670 employed in February, up 131 from January’s figure of 13,539. In February 2013, there were 13,448 employed. TWC also reported there were 820 unemployed last month, up three from the 802 the previous month and 118 fewer than reported a year ago.
TWC noted Texas employers added 37,600 seasonally adjusted total nonfarm jobs in February. Those additions, coupled with a revised gain of 43,000 jobs in January, boosted annual growth to 314,200 jobs in Texas.
