RICHMOND -- Who is Mike Jones? Not Rickey Pickens, according to police.

Jones, a Houston-area rapper, likes to use the catchphrase "Who? Mike Jones?" in his music and at concerts, but now police believe his name is being used for another reason -- a scam.

Police said Pickens, 30, was arrested Monday for apparently impersonating Jones, using a phony ID and trying to withdraw money from a Mechanics Bank branch at 4100 Macdonald Ave.

Bank employees, who have received training on what can be called the "Mike Jones scam," called police at about 4:45 p.m. Officers chased Pickens into a nearby shopping center, according to Sgt. Nicole Abetkov.

Police shocked Pickens with a Taser and took him into custody on suspicion of attempted burglary and violating his parole, Abetkov said. He was on parole for robbery and elder abuse, according to police.

Bank officials told police others have attempted to use Jones' name at local banks.
