The Graford Livestock Association will hold its 28th annual Jackrabbit 5K run and first annual BBQ Cook-off Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21, in downtown Graford.
Registration for the cook-off begins at 1 p.m. Friday.
Cooks will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Categories include beans, half chicken, pork ribs, pork butt, brisket and Dutch oven dessert.

Closest to the Pin
The annual Closest to the Pin, a fund-raiser for the Possum Kingdom Women's Club, will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, at the The Cliffs Golf Course.
The entry fee is $10 per ball, collected at the par-3 ninth hole.
A cash prize of $200 goes to the golfer who is the closest to the pin at the ninth hole.

Palo Pinto County Humane Society will hold a pet adoption 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Waldens Farm & Ranch in Mineral Wells featuring puppies and dogs of all sizes as well as cats and kittens.
VFW Ceremony, Dance
VFW Post 2399 will host a VFW POW Remembrance Ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, followed by a dance at 8 p.m. featuring Billy Keeble and Steve Stewart.

Community Church Benefit
Boondocks will host a benefit for the Community Church of PK, destroyed this summer in a fire, beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22,

Art Show Reception
A reception will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 for the show, "Shades of Gray," at the main gallery of the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center.
The exhibit features graphite and charcoal artists in the U.S. and will be held through Saturday, Oct. 26, .
It features 15 graphite and charcoal artists showcasing the Southwest and beyond.

Crazy Water Festival
The 2013 Crazy Water Festival will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12, in Mineral Wells.
This year's festival celebrates 134 years of Crazy Water. The Crazy Water Festival started in 1979 to celebrate the crazy history of Mineral Wells and the famous water for which it's known for.
On Friday night, Oct. 11, the festival kicks off with the car cruise with classic and custom-built vehicles. The cruise will be followed by a concert at the Little Rock Schoolhouse Amphitheater. This was the first public school building in Mineral Wells.
The main part of the festival kicks off Saturday, Oct. 12, with the Crazy 5K Run, followed by the festival opening at 9 a.m.

Open Door Christian School will hold Fall Fest beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the school, 735 Oak St., Graham.
A full slate of activities are included beginning with a 5K run at 8 a.m.; 1K fun run at 10; and a cage dodge ball tournament at 11. From 4-9 p.m., there will be carnival games, food, live music, a petting zoo, pony rides and more.

The Highway 16 National Register nomination will be heard at a State Board of Review meeting set for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Chandor Gardens in Weatherford.
The work to preserve the 8.4-mile segment of SH 16, located in Palo Pinto County, is east of Possum Kingdom Lake, north of the town of Brad, and west of the town of Graford. The nominated section of SH 16 extends from Brackeen Drive to SH 254.
The meeting is open to the public.
