Boots and Hoses
The first annual "Boots and Hoses Cook-off and Concert" will take place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18 and 19, at the Walking K Ranch in Ivan, featuring live music both nights.
Pre-sale tickets will cost $40 for a weekend pass. Tickets will cost $30 per night at the gate. Children age 12 and under will get in free.
All proceeds from the event will go toward Hubbard Creek VFD, Eliasville VFD, Loving VFD and Caddo VFD.

The Highway 16 National Register nomination will be heard at a State Board of Review meeting set for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Chandor Gardens in Weatherford.
The work to preserve the 8.4-mile segment of State Highway 16, located in Palo Pinto County, is east of Possum Kingdom Lake, north of the town of Brad, and west of the town of Graford.
The nominated section of SH 16 extends from Brackeen Drive to State Highway 254.
The meeting is open to the public.

The Possum Kingdom East Volunteer Fire Department and EMS Auxiliary sale will be held 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19-20, and the same hours the following weekend at its new location, 142 La Villa Road on the East Side of PK Lake.
The Graford Lions Club fish fry will be held 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Community Center in downtown Graford.
The Just Country Band will also perform.
Cost is $9 for adults, children under 12, $5.
Palo Pinto County Humane Society will have a pet adoption 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Waldens Farm and Ranch in Mineral Wells. There are many dogs and cats, puppies and kittens.

Tales from the Trails
The W.K. Gordon Center will host "Tales from the Trails," featuring Margaret Hoogstra, executive director of the Texas Forts Trail Region, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20.
The talk is free and open to the public.
Hoogstra will tell tales, tall and otherwise, of the wild Texas frontier.

Palo Pinto County Retired Teachers and School Employees will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Holiday Hills Country Club. David Nicklas, Palo Pinto County judge, will present the program. Projects will be scholarship fund and nominating committee.

GISD Bond Meeting
Graford ISD Superintendent Dennis Holt will hold a public meeting to provide information on the Nov. 5 bond election.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the school cafeteria, 400 W. Division St., Graford.

Truck or Treat
The annual Halloween Truck or Treat, sponsored by the Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce, will be held beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the PK chamber - Possum Gulch.

Tour of Homes
The Possum Kingdom Women's Club and its event sponsors will present the annual tour of homes, Harvest Homes, at the Cliffs at Possum Kingdom Lake, 2-6 p.m. Saturday Nov. 2.
Tickets and maps will be available for $15 for the event at the Cliffs Community entrance gate, or at any of the showcase homes on the day of the tour.
Tickets will also be available at the PK Chamber of Commerce during the weeks before the event.
All proceeds benefit local charities supported by the Possum Kingdom Women's Club.
