VFW Post 2399 in Mineral Wells will hold a Haunted Asylum 9 p.m.-midnight Friday, Nov. 1, and 7 p.m.-midnight Saturday, Nov. 2. Food, games and concessions will be available. The Asylum can be found at 1400 SE VFW St. in Mineral Wells.
A holiday craft sale will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Charlie's Angels Senior Center, 329 N. FM 2353, at Possum Kingdom Lake.
Door prizes will be given every hour. Winners must be present.

Tour of Homes
The Possum Kingdom Women's Club and its event sponsors will present the annual tour of homes, Harvest Homes, at the Cliffs at Possum Kingdom Lake, 2-5 p.m. Saturday Nov. 2. Tickets and maps will be available for $15 for the event at the Cliffs Community entrance gate or at any of the showcase homes on the day of the tour. Tickets will also be available at the PK Chamber of Commerce through today, Friday. All proceeds benefit local charities supported by the Possum Kingdom Women's Club. Crazy Fossil Dig
The Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce's third annual Crazy Fossil Dig event will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Mineral Wells Fossil Park, 375 Indian Creek Road, west of Mineral Wells. During the Crazy Dig, there will be tons of fun for visitors. The first 50 attendees will receive a Mineral Wells Fossil Park apron, designed especially for the next paleontological adventure. On hand will be special guests from the Dallas Paleontological Society to assist with fossil identification. There will also be displays and hands-on activities for visitors, guided tours and history lessons about the park. With free admission, this is hardly an opportunity to pass up. Star Gazing Party
Palo Pinto Mountains State Park, at Strawn, will be the site of a star gazing party 5 p.m.-midnight Saturday, Nov. 2. Telescopes will be provided by volunteers, and the Strawn VFD will be selling barbecue sandwiches, chips and drinks.
The park is located 2 miles west of Strawn on FM 2372, or the Tucker Lake Road. This is a free event open to the public.

AMVETS Post 133 will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Holiday Hills Country Club.
The meeting will be to finalize the Veterans Day Golf Tournament and "Feed the Vets Free" Monday, Nov. 11. Volunteers are needed to commit to times for both events.
Civil War Reenactment
Fort Richardson State Park, in Jacksboro, will hold Battle for Fort Richardson, the fourth annual Civil War weekend, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 2-3.
Civil War re-enactors perform continuous living history demonstrations, including infantry, mounted cavalry and artillery drills, as well as battle re-enactments.
Park entry fees apply plus a $2 event fee (12 and under free). The park address is 228 Park Road 61.

Palo Pinto County Humane Society will hold a pet adoption 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Waldens Farm and Ranch in Mineral Wells. There are many dogs and cats, puppies and kittens.
Friday, Nov. 8
The Lone Camp Fall Bazaar will be held 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8-9, at the Lone Camp Community Center.
Lone Camp is located seven miles south of Palo Pinto on Highway 4. Vendors will feature many unique gift ideas for purchase including Christmas items. Home cooked breakfast and lunch will be available.

Saturday, Nov. 9
Palo Pinto Mountains State Park will host an equestrian trail ride Saturday, Nov. 9. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m., the ride begins at 9 a.m. and lasts about four hours. The park is located 2 miles west of Strawn on FM 2372, or the Tucker Lake Road. The fee for the ride is $10, and a negative Coggins test is required. Monday, Nov. 11
A Veterans Day Golf Tournament will be held beginning at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the Holiday Hills Country Club, in Mineral Wells, with a shotgun start.
Hosted by AMVETS Post 133 and sponsored by the Powell Auto Group and Ram Country, the event will be a four-person, 25 team, scramble. There will be a closest-to-the-hole competition, a pair of par-3 hole-in-one car-truck give-aways, a raffle, dinner and more.
The entry fee is $65 per person.

Zonta's 28th annual Christmas Tour of Homes will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, in Mineral Wells.
Tickets are $20 pre-sale, $25 at the door.

The Mineral Wells Parks and Recreation department is currently taking registration for adult basketball. The cost is $340 per team with an eight-game season for Men and Women's leagues. Men will play on Monday nights and women will play on Tuesday nights. Call 940-328-7803 for more information!

The Possum Kingdom East Volunteer Fire Department and EMS Auxiliary welcomes those who have a few hours a week to volunteer. Contact any member for information. Donations for flea market sales are accepted 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays at the Lions Club Building, 142 La Villa Road.
The auxiliary is no longer accepting mattresses or box springs. Do not leave donated items outside the fire station or Lions Club.
