Friends of Ronda Gibson will hold a benefit to help with medical expenses 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Possum Kingdom Chamber Commerce, 362 N. FM 2353. Surgery in October led to complications and additional emergency surgeries, her husband, Johnny Gibson, explained. "Ronda is currently in ICU, on the ventilator, fighting for her life," noted Dee Dee Jordan, a family friend. "This has taken a tremendous toll on her family and income. We are asking that you help Pay it Forward to help someone who has built her life around helping others. Ronda has no health insurance to help with any of these growing expenses." "We appreciate all the support we have and are very lucky to have such caring friends," Johnny Gibson said. "She's proud of her community and does everything she can for it." Ronda Gibson has served as the United Way of Palo Pinto County fund-raising committee chair, as well as served on the PK Chamber Board of Directors. Most recently she started the "Jackets Float, Kids Don't" program to provide life jackets to children visiting PK Lake. She has worked at First State Bank, The Harbor and is a real estate agent at RE/MAX. She and Johnny Gibson married three years ago. "It's her friends who want to do this," Johnny Gibson said. The event will feature live music and a silent auction. There will also be food at the BYOB fund-raiser. To make a donation or for more information, call Jordan at 817-880-1779.
