Texas Parks and Wildlife Department held another trout release below the dam at the Possum Kingdom Lake tailrace yesterday, Thursday, the last scheduled release of the year.
However, officials reported there will be a release of an additional 2,500 trout Thursday, March 6.
Also, the latest release Thursday included some larger trout weighing as much as 3 pounds.
Because of the low-water conditions at the Highway 16 bridge resulting in the boat ramp being mostly out of water, the releases have been further upstream, officials reported.
Plans called for 9,000 rainbows to be released at PK.
With the additional release, that total will grow to 11,500.
Anyone 17 years or older needs a fishing license. Trout anglers will need the $5 freshwater Fishing Stamp, which is included in all freshwater license packages.
Anglers under 17 years of age are not required to have a license and don't need to purchase a stamp.
The bag limit for trout is five fish per day with no minimum length limit.
