Guest Speaker
Capt. Sarah L. Blum, author of Women Under Fire, will speak at 8 p.m. at the Holiday Hills Country Club for members of the Mineral Wells Women’s Club, Zonta Club, Military Officers of America and the ladies auxiliaries of the American Legion, VFW and AMVETS, as well as special guests.
Dinner is at 7 p.m. Walmart has generously donated much of the cost of meals for those attending.

Saturday, June 7
PKLA Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the Possum Kingdom Lake Association will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce, 362 N. FM 2353.

NVWM
The site of the National Vietnam War Museum will host the fifth annual Updating of the Wall Saturday, June 7.
Gates open at 8 a.m., the ceremonies begin at 10.
This year, four names will be added to the replica Vietnam Memorial Wall.

Frontier Days
The Palo Pinto County Historical Association will hold Frontier Days 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Old Jail Museum Complex located two blocks south of the Palo Pinto Courthouse.
Tours will be conducted of the Old Jail Museum Complex, including Black Springs Fort, the old jail and log cabins.

Scheduled events include:
• 10-11 a.m. — In the park, Old Settlers meet and greet and sign in.
• 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. — Mini-melodrama performance. Get in the spirit of the 1800s and come in period dress.
• 12:30-2 p.m. — Barbecue lunch served in the extension building. Donations accepted.

Monday, June 9
Spay, Neuter Clinic
The Humane Society of Young County will have a low cost/no cost spay and neuter clinic Monday, June 9. Space is limited for the income-based clinic.

Vacation Bible School
The First Baptist Church of PK will hold vacation Bible school 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 9, through Thursday, June 12.

Tuesday, June 10
Library Program
Boyce Ditto Public Library, in Mineral Wells will present a program showing how to defend against promoters of fraudulent or inappropriate investments at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 10.
Coffee and tea will be served.

Saturday, June 14
Possum Walk
The 18th annual St. Peters by the Lake Episcopal Church Possum Walk will be held Saturday, June 14.
Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., the walk at 8 sharp at the church, located at the intersection of Red Bird and Park Road 36 on Possum Kingdom Lake’s East Side. Entry fee is $18 for a four-mile walk or run.
T-shirts will be given to the first 50 who enter.

Summer Nights
The Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce will hold a free concert  beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Possum Gulch, located behind the chamber, 362 N. FM 2353.
There will be two bands and concessions, however, those attending are asked to bring their own beverages and chairs.

Monday, July 14
Taste of Palo Pinto
The Taste of Palo Pinto County will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, July 14, at the Holiday Hills Country Club, 4801 Highway 180 East, with the event benefiting the Mineral Wells Senior Center.
There will be food from area restaurants, a silent and live auction and door prizes.
For reserved seating, the cost is $30 and general admission, with no reserved seating, is $35.

On-going activities
Church Youth Program
PK Community Church holds a youth and children program 6-7 p.m. Wednesdays at Charlie’s Angels Senior Center.

Inland Divers
The Inland Divers Association is now accepting applications for membership.
It is a non-profit organization in the interest of preserving and developing scuba diving at Possum Kingdom Lake, located at 3203 Redbird Road, next to Lakeside RV Park.

The Possum Kingdom Lions Club asked that medical equipment on loan that is no longer being used be returned to the Lions Club Building, 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays, or to Charlie’s Angels Tuesday or Thursday mornings.

Want to donate items? Want to save money? The PK Westside Volunteer Emergency Services “Garage Sale” Thrift Store is the answer.

All donations are tax deductible and sales benefit the volunteer fire and ambulance services.

Auxiliary Donations
The Possum Kingdom East Volunteer Fire Department and EMS Auxiliary welcomes those who have a few hours a week to volunteer.
Contact any member for information. Donations for flea market sales are accepted 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays at the Lions Club Community Center, 142 La Villa Road.
The auxiliary is no longer accepting mattresses or box springs. Do not leave donated items outside the fire station or Lions Club.

Got more pets than money? Financial assistance for spay and neuter services is available from the Palo Pinto County Humane Society.
