Teacher Appreciation
The annual Teacher Appreciation Day will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Bennett’s Office Supply, 400 N. Oak, in Mineral Wells.
The theme will be “Cooking up a Good Year,” and the day will feature finger foods, sweets, punch, samples and goodie bags.
Bennett’s will also offer a percentage off all in-stock teacher supplies.

Master Gardener Classes
Four applicants will be accepted into the Master Gardener program to attend master gardener training courses in Weatherford. 
Classes will start Thursday, Oct. 9, and last six to seven weeks.
Application forms and additional information will be available 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Palo Pinto Agrilife Extension Office in Palo Pinto.

Meet the Teacher
Meet the Teacher night for Graford elementary students and parents will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.
Children may be registered from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. through and including Monday, Aug. 25.

Boot Scoot
The United Way of Palo Pinto County will hold a Boot Scoot and Bar B Que beginning at 7 p.


m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce, 362 N. FM 2353.
Music will be by Snuff Garrett and the evening will feature dance lessons, auction items, food and more.
Cost is $30 per person, $50 per couple.

Penny Auction
The United Way of Palo Pinto County will hold its fourth annual Penny Auction Saturday, Sept. 27, at Mineral Wells Junior High School.
Doors open at 5 p.m., the auction begins at 6.
The grand prize will be a leather recliner.
Pennies can be purchased on site or brought along.

First Baptist Church

Auxiliary Donations
The Possum Kingdom East Volunteer Fire Department and EMS Auxiliary welcomes those who have a few hours a week to volunteer.
Contact any member for information. Donations for flea market sales are accepted 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays at the Lions Club Community Center, 142 La Villa Road.
The auxiliary is no longer accepting mattresses or box springs. Do not leave donated items outside the fire station or Lions Club.
