Early voting in local elections begins Monday.
Area residents will be able to cast their vote in several school board and municipal races as well as weigh-in on two proposed school bonds.
Elections will take place in Mineral Wells, Strawn, Palo Pinto and Gordon.
Mineral Wells voters will elect city council members and school district trustees.
Mineral Wells City Council has only one contested race. Current Ward 4 Councilman Kevin Harrison is challenging incumbent Place 1 Councilman-at-Large Rick Bennett. Running unopposed in Place 2 is Councilman-at-Large Bill Terry. Tammy Underwood, who is also running unopposed, is seeking re-election as Ward 2 council member. Karium Carter seeks to fill the City Council Ward 4 position.
Joe M. Ruelas is running uncontested for Mineral Wells ISD trustee Place 3. Place 4 has incumbent Scott Aaron and Paul Harrison running. Place 5 has incumbent Mike Tincher running against Sunny Gail Lee.
Early voting will take place at the courthouse annex in Mineral Wells, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday, April 29; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, through Friday, May 3; 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday, May 6; and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, May 7.
Three candidates for Strawn ISD trustee will vie for two positions. Tina Spakes, Reese Sparks and Craig Abbott are seeking election.
In addition, Strawn ISD is asking voter approval of a bond through increased tax rates in the amount of $5 million for the construction, renovation, acquisition and equipment of school buildings and levying of tax in payment thereof.
Early voting will take place 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, April 29, through Friday, May 3, and Monday and Tuesday, May 6-7, at city hall.
Palo Pinto ISD is seeking voter approval for the issuance of $3 million in bonds and levying the tax in payment thereof. Early voting will be 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, April 29, through Friday, May 3, and Monday and Tuesday, May 6-7, at the PPISD administration office located at 821 Oak St.
Gordon will elect two members at large to fill positions as trustees for the Gordon Independent School District. Running for Place 1 is Ed DeMichele. The Place 2 candidate is Joel Taylor and Place 3 is Milo Moffit. Early voting will be from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, through Friday, May 3, and Monday and Tuesday, May 6-7, at the Gordon ISD superintendant's office, 112 Rusk.
