Federal Energy Regulatory Commission representatives will inspect Morris Sheppard Dam Wednesday, May 1.
In a letter to Brazos River Authority, Paul Wessel, a FERC civil engineer, noted that the inspection would begin at 7 a.m.
"All project structures will be inspected, and records for the project will be examined," he wrote. "Please ensure that appropriate personnel are available for discussion of any past problems, preent concerns, or future actions to be taken regarding dam safety."
The inspection is in response to a request from BRA to decommission the facility. Generators have been taken off line and rendered inoperable. In addition, BRA installed two controlled outlet conhuits for the release of water at the 925-foot level.
If the dam passes the inspection, ir is anticipated FERC will release the facility and FERC propert restrictions at PK Lake will no longer be in effecet.
