Four people died in a head-on collision just south of the Palo Pinto County line Saturday afternoon.
Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Gary Rozzell said Courtney Kay Smalley, 18, of Lipan, was driving a 1998 Volkswagen south on Highway 281 about 7.5 miles north of Morgan Mill when the vehicle crossed into the northbound lane. With her in the vehicle was Kimberly Genice Peacock, 19, of Fort Worth.
He said their vehicle struck a 2006 Mercedes driven by Matthew Lee Keith, 29, of Searcy, Ark. With him was 26-year-old Tsanti Cholla Keith.
All four were pronounced dead at the scene.
Santo, Lipan and Erath County volunteer fire departments and EMS responded to the accident.

DPS Trooper Billy James Hill, of Stephenville investigated assisted by a number of other officers including Trooper Travis Alewine of Palo Pinto County.
Highway 281 was closed for several hours.
