The Possum Kingdom lake Association will hold its annual meeting beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce, 362 N. FM 2353.
PKLA President Monte Land said the meeting will be used to discuss many issues.
"We're just going to give an update on several bills - HB 2362, SB 1092 and SB 918 - and report on the last BRA board meeting," he said.
Under HB 2362, river authorities will be subject to a periodic efficiency review by the Legislative Budget Board to analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of the policies, management, fiscal affairs and operations of a river authority. The findings will be sent to the governor and the legislature. That law has gone to the governor for signature.
SB 1092 was a companion bill to HB 2362 introduced by State Sen. Brian Birdwell, of Granbury.
SB 918 is the legislation introduced by State Sen. Craig Estes to direct the sale of commercial and remaining residential leases at PK Lake. That bill has been sent to the governor.
In addition, there will be information about taxes, the appeal process and hiring consultants.
"We'll go over them again," he said. "How to protest your taxes."
There will also be information regarding flood plains. Land said several lenders, unfamiliar with the area, have required flood insurance. He said he will explain what can be done to alleviate that situation.
Finally, the issue of Brazos River Authority's request to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for additional sales of water will be discussed.
