Last week, Darren Lynn Dow, of Mineral Wells, received 24 months in a state jail facility, a $5,000 fine and was ordered to pay $4,500 in restitution for the theft of a pickup.
"The owner left his '96 Dodge pickup parked at his business west of town," said District Attorney Michael Burns. "It was for sale.
"He came in the next morning and it was gone."
The report was filed Sept. 25.
"That evening, Crimestoppers got a tip that it was stashed at a location along Highway 281 South," Burns continued.
He said Palo Pinto County Sheriff's Office deputies could not find the vehicle. When they drove to Dow's residence on Inspiration Point Road, they saw the pickup behind his residence.
"He had already painted pin striping and removed the vehicle identification number plate," Burns explained.
