Two more candidates have filed as a Republican for the March primary and another is expected to file before the 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, deadline. Barbara Upham, chairwoman of the county Republican Party, said Earnest Pechacek, former Precinct 4 commissioner, has filed for county judge and C.L. "Coppy" Hodgkins has filed for the Precinct 4 justice of the peace office he now holds. Randy Hunter, appointed by commissioners as Precinct 4 constable when Jim Roberts retired, is expected to file for the primary to fill Roberts' unexpired term. Already filing were Jeff Fryer, Precinct 4 commissioner; Todd Baker, Precinct 1 justice of the peace; Louis Ragle, Precinct 2 commissioner; Bobby Hart, Precinct 5 JP; Janie Glover, district clerk; Shane Long, Precinct 2 JP; Janette Green, county clerk; Stacie Frye, candidate for district clerk; David Nicklas, county judge; and Shawn Humphries, Precinct 3 JP. Debbie Murray and Jessica Wright both announced they are candidates for county clerk but have yet to file.
