Ice covers tree limbs and branches Monday morning as temperatures at or just below freezing hung on. There were no reports of roads being icy over the weekend, but sleet, freezing rain and snow flurries along with wind and cold temperatures made for a taste of winter. (Mark Engebretson)
A winter storm watch was upgraded to a winter storm warning late last week.
The storm warning was to run through noon Monday, but Sunday evening that was downgraded to a winter storm watch.
Forecasters predicted up to 2 inches of sleet, ice roads, freezing rain and snow for the area, but it never really developed.
Rain started the mix of weather and a strong cold front blew in Friday, dropping temperatures throughout the day. While there was a mix of sleet and freezing rain that covered the ground, it melted once the precipitation passed. However, as a precaution, Graford school closed at 1:30 and the Graford Tournament basketball games were postponed.
