Officers with the Mineral Wells Police Department were dispatched to a criminal mischief report in the Walmart parking lot last week.
“Upon arrival, witnesses were talking about an assault,” said Lt. Randy Wright, operations officer at MWPD.
He said witnesses alleged that Matthew Macpherson, 19, of Mineral Wells, had assaulted another man with a knife, stabbing him.
Both the suspect and victim had left the scene before officers arrived
“Officers went to Palo Pinto General Hospital to speak with the victim, but he had been flown to John Peter Smith Hospital,” Wright continued, adding that the victim’s injuries were non-life threatening.
He explained that officers then went to Macpherson’s residence on Southeast 21st Street and arrested him for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Macpherson’s bond was set at $100,000 and, as of Tuesday, he remained in Palo Pinto Jail.
