A fire in Patillo Monday resulted in one fatality and two being flown to Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Santo seventh-grade student Jesse Nance, 13, died in the fire. His mother and step-father, Lisa and Leslie Bain, were both taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Chris Brock, fire chief of Erath County Fire Department, said the call was received about 2 a.m. Monday. "It is a sad, sad deal," he said. "It was fully involved by the time we arrived. The mother and dad were outside when the fire department arrived." Lt. Randy Fowler, with the Erath County Sheriff's Office, said an autopsy was ordered. "Mom and dad are in bad shape," he said, adding that the mother was in a medically induced coma earlier this week. "It was a tragic accident," he added. The cause of the fire is under investigation by not only the fire marshal but also the Erath County Sheriff's Office. Officials indicated the fire started on the porch where a heat lamp was being used to help keep a dog warm, however, the actual cause may never be known, it was reported.
