“The property owner was grinding and sparks got into grass,” said County Fire Marshal Buddy Harwell. “The fire got into tires and then the mobile home.”
Mineral Wells and Cool-Garner volunteer fire departments responded.
Around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, there was a report of a car fire on Dobbs Valley Road.
“We got there and it appeared to have burned between 3:30 and 7:30 a.m.,” Harwell said.
It turned out the car was stolen from Fort Worth. Investigators were eventually able to determine it was a white, four-door 1996 Lexus ES 300.
That is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call Crimestoppers and remain anonymous at 940-325-0000.
Crimestoppers offers a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those committing felony crimes.
There were four more fires Sunday — three along Interstate 20 and one at Strawn.
Harwell said the three along I-20 were in the median between Highway 281 and the Parker County line.
“It could have been a chain dragging or some other item that sparked those fires,” harwell said.
The Strawn fire started when power lines arced, he said, adding that it was small and soon contained.
