The U.S. Postal Service will hold a community meeting regarding the future of mail service in Caddo at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at the Caddo Volunteer Fire Department, 581 County Road 108, in Caddo.
“Surveys will be sent to customers within the delivery zip code of this post office and the post office box customers,” a notice from USPS reads.
“At the meeting, local management will share the results of the survey and answer questions.”
According to the notice, the postal service is considering four options:
• Keep the Caddo Post Office in place but reduce each weekday hours to two. Saturday hours would not change. Access to delivery receptacles would not be affected.
• Perform a discontinuance study, changing to roadside mailbox delivery with mail delivery points and purchases made from the rural mail carrier or alternate access points.
• Perform a discontinuance study and locate an alternative location through a contractor, usually a local business, that would offer stamps and flat rate products.
• Perform a discontinuance study and provide P.O. box service from a nearby post office by relocating present P.O. boxes to that location.
