The Lake Country Sun received five awards from the West Texas Press Association Better Newspaper Contest, with the results announced at the association’s annual convention last weekend in Graham.
Awards were a first place for advertising, a first place in feature writing, second places in photography and a second place in special sections. As a result, The Sun was third in Sweepstakes, which is based upon points awarded for wins in each entry category .
“I am always thrilled when the work of the staff at The Sun is recognized by our peers,” said Mark Engebretson, managing editor. “The people who work at this newspaper care about the communities it serves.”
Engebretson completed his term as chairman of the board. He is currently chairman of the North and East Texas Press Association.
“This makes 12 awards for The Sun this year,” Engebretson added. “I couldn’t be prouder for the staff, the readers and the advertisers who support our newspaper.”
