Beulah Fields, 102, longtime area resident, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014, in Sherman, Texas.
The daughter of Carrie Belle (Tuttle) and Samuel Elison Archer, Beulah Jane Archer was born Feb. 16, 1912, in Medford, Okla. She attended Jet, Okla.. High School and was united in marriage to Theodore Leo Fields Dec. 23, 1929, in San Antonio. 
The Fields lived in the Baker community, where he worked for Cities Service Gas Co. at Ulysses, Kan., Baker and the Straight, Okla., plant.
The perfect example of the Depression farm wife, Mrs. Fields was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She cooked for many years at the Baker School and later at Guymon Memorial Hospital. Beulah was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Staying active was her key to staying young, so she loved bowling until the age of 92, playing bridge and beating most opponents until the age of 98. Beulah shared her knitting and crocheting talents, gifting her family and friends with her beautiful afghans. In 2007, Beulah moved to Possum Kingdom Lake to be closer to her daughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, T.L. Fields; two daughters, Delnora Leudtke and Deloris Mendenhall; four brothers; one sister; and a grandson.
She is survived by a son, Ted Fields Jr., and wife Sarah of Texhoma, Okla.; two daughters, Donna Hood and husband Joe, of Sherman, and Ruth McCracken, of Possum Kingdom Lake; 29 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.


A prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at the Henson-Novak Chapel, 501 NW Fifth, Guymon. 
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 5, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 1220 N. Quinn, Guymon, with the Rev. Mike Wheelahan officiating. Interment will follow at Elmhurst Cemetery.
