Gary Wayne Longerbone, 81, of Possum Kingdom Lake, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at PK Chamber of Commerce.
Gary was born in New Virginia, Iowa on March 5, 1933 to Harley and Dorothy Williams Longerbone. He served in the U.S. Army. Gary lived most of his life in Fridley, Minn., where he owned Gary’s Automotive. He moved to Possum Kingdom Lake in 2008 where he loved being by the water and working at Hideaway Cabins. He never met a stranger and was Poppa to so many from Minnesota to Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry and brother-in-law David Pegors.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Long; children Gary (Shari) LaVigne, Larry (Jule) LaVigne, Lisa (Dave) Iverson, Randy Winberg, Jill Skrien, Keri (Randy) Sharp, Karin Anderson, Terry (April) Anderson and Kristi Cotto; grandchildren Michael, Christopher, Sean, Brian, Alissa, Carly, Kyle, Ryan, Ashley, Lauren, Shelby, Gina, Dustin, Jacob, Karter, Kelsey, Byron, Trevor, Aaryn, Jordanne, Julian, Jesse and Jadie; nine great-grandchildren; sister Dolores (Allyn) Thompson; sisters-in-law Maryann (Philip) Wood, Joy (Barry) March, Lora (Raymond) Stewart and Charlotte Lage; and also numerous friends.
