By Sarah Howard A good swing and proper form could earn one lucky golfer bragging rights and a cash prize at the Possum Kingdom Women's Club annual Closest to the Pin Competition, Saturday, May 4, at the Cliff's Golf Course. The annual event raises money for the on-going work of PKWC. Entry for the event is free, but each shot will cost $10. Players can tee off anytime after 8 a.m. with the contest starting as soon as the first golfer reaches the ninth hole. Those wishing to participate without playing a full round are free to do so by going directly to the ninth hole and paying the attendants. According to Billie Day, PKWC volunteer, players may hit as many balls as they wish. "Each chance will cost an additional $10, but someone can hit as many as they are willing to pay for," she said. "At the end of the day, we will calculate everyone's distance and award the winner." The golfer who measures closest to the pin will be awarded a $200 prize donated by the event sponsor, Pondera Properties. For more information, call 940-452-8220.
