Just under 200 runners and their support teams crowded into camp areas and along Bug Beach for the first PK Trail Run Saturday. Endurance Buzz Adventures of Allen organized the event and, according to several participants and spectators, did a great job. The run featured a 20k, 55k and 52-mile race along Brazos River Authority hike and bike trails. The start and finish lines were at Bug Beach. "This is one of the best organized events we have gone to," said Chris Wiley, of Lewisville. "My husband has run several races like this and they do such a good job marking the trails to keep everyone safe." The race took runners through a variety of terrain along the 16-mile span of trails throughout the lake area. Trails were clearly marked and emergency personnel were at crossings and aid stations to assist those crossing roadways or in need of medical help. "A few bumps and scrapes were reported but nothing out of the ordinary for the type of running we do," said David Hanenburg, Endurance Buzz Adventures owner.
