The Lady Warriors of Mineral Wells Community Christian School upset No. 2 TCAF Division II state-ranked Weatherford Christian at home last week in a 3-1 volleyball match. The unexpected win put CCS in a tie for second place with the 21-25, 28-26, 25-22 and 25-18 win. In the state playoff round one, the Lady Warriors defeated Temple Christian Flower Mound 15 25, 25 17, 25 20 and 25 19. "This is the Lady Warriors first volleyball playoff win since 1997," noted Douglas Jefferson of MWCCS. Next playoff game is against Cornerstone Christian McKinney Thursday at 7:00. Game is at Old Settler's Rec Center. Address is 1201 E. Louisiana Street, McKinney, 75069. In the win over Weatherford, Jefferson reported it was a really exciting night to complement Senior Night. Seniors Summer Gage and Bethany Peoples used the added crowd and extra excitement to motivate their team to play their best game of the season so far. "The Lady Warriors have battled through a very difficult district schedule which included TCAF Division II No. 1 ranked Azle Christian and No. 2 Weatherford Christian," he added. Game two of the match proved to be the most challenging with the Lady Warriors battling from a seven-point deficit to take the win. District standings with state rankings at the end of regular season play were: Azle Christian, 8-0, No. 1 in the state.
