The Santo Lady Cats took a 49-45 win against Eastland last Thursday in one of the few games held during the Santo Basketball Tournament.
Sleet and deteriorating road conditions forced the cancellation of the tournament.
It was a back-and-forth game as the Lady Cats took a 13-11 lead into the second quarter. At the half, Eastland had tied the girls, 21-21.
In the third period, Eastland came back, out scoring Santo 17-14 for a three-point lead heading into the final frame.
In the fourth, Santo dominated with a 14-7 scoring advantage that sealed the win.
Leading the scoring for Santo were Chasen Howard with 17; Payton Billue, 13; Breeana Raffaele, nine; Megan MacPherson, five; Courtney Flanagan and Callie Wharton, two each; and Madison Lasater, one.
The Santo JV girls took on the Springtown varsity team and held their own, but fell 42-66.
In the opening quarter, the Santo JV team offered a surprise to Springtown, taking a 12-9 lead. Thereafter, it was Springtown but the Santo JV girls were able to put up respectable points in every quarter.
