The Santo Lady Cats continued to show exceptional talent last week with a 36-30 win over No. 4 ranked Goldthwaite. "We had a huge turning point in the second half of the varsity game when Goldthwaite took the lead," noted Coach Tony Raffaele, "I told them they can either go out and execute the way they are coached or they could continue to melt and make excuses. I was not very nice about it either. "They collected themselves and took the game back against the Class 1A, Division 1, No. 4 (TABC) team in state. We made huge strides tonight in becoming the team we want to be. The past six games have been very tough and we have come out a better team because of it." The game started low, with Santo taking a 4-3 lead into the second quarter. By the half the Lady Cats had padded the lead, 13-8. But in the third period, Goldthwaite came roaring back, using an 11-6 scoring advantage to tie the game at 19 going into the final quarter. Chasen Howard led the Santo girls with 11 points; Breeana Raffaele added eight; Courtney Flanagan, five; Payton Billue and Jaci Trotter, four each; Taylor Nemeth, three; and Megan MacPherson, one. The No. 13 ranked Lady Cats improved to 10-4.
