The Santo Lady Cats went up against a couple of tough teams during the holidays - Jim Ned and Wall.
"We played the toughest 10-game stretch I have had in awhile," noted Coach Tony Raffaele.
"We are now looking forward to our last non-district game and then district. Our schedule has made us a tougher team and we just need to continue what we are building.
"I feel very confident where we are at," he added.
Against Wall, the Santo girls came up short, 37-53.
Except for the second quarter, the Lady Cats kept pace and handed the girls from Wall all they could handle.
Santo trailed by two points heading into the second period, 10-12. But in the second, Wall scored 21 while holding Santo to just six. Santo out scored Wall 21-20 in the second half, but it wasn't enough.
Chasen Howard led the Santo girls with 12 points; Madison Lasater added six; Courtney Flanagan, five; Megan MacPherson, Payton Billue and Taylor Nemeth, four each; and Breeana Raffaele, two.
Against Jim Ned, the girls ended up on the low side of a 53-46 score.
"Too many turnovers and missed free throws down the stretch hurt us or this game could have went the other way," Raffaele reported. "Jim Ned puts a lot of pressure on you the whole game. They are not a 2A top-10 team for nothing. This will help prepare us for district and playoffs."
