The Santo Lady Cats traveled to Ranger last week and came home with a 66-33 win.
"Defense and balanced scoring will be our strength for the rest of district and the playoffs," noted Coach Tony Raffaele. "We have five girls averaging between eight and 14 points a game, which makes it hard for other teams to defend us. We also have girls that come off the bench and can score and play as well as the ones who start the game. The girls are starting to play as a team and understand roles in order to win games, understanding and working everyday through the process will lead to the end result, our goal."
Santo took a 12-7 lead into the second quarter, added 17 in the second and had a 29-17 lead at the half. In the third the Lady Cats scored 20 while holding Ranger to six.
Payton Billue led Santo with 18 points; Chasen Howard scored 17; Courtney Flanagan, 10; Megan MacPherson, seven; Taylor Nemeth, six; Madison Lasater, four; and Callie Wharton and Jaci Trotter, two apiece.
Santo's record improved to 16-7 on the year, 4-0 in district.
