The Santo Lady Cats handed San Saba Lady Armadillos a 53-45 loss in a regional quarterfinal game at Gorman High School Tuesday night. "It was a great game by the team," noted Coach Raffaele. "We will play at 3 p.m. Friday against Ivanhoe-Sam Rayburn in a Class 1A, Division 1, Region 2, regional semifinal at Abilene Christian University." Santo started with a first quarter lead of 13-12. By the half, the Lady Cats had built a 30-26 lead. In the third quarter, the girls scored 13 to San Saba's eight; and in the final frame, they added 10 more. Courtney Flanagan led the girls with 13 points; Payton Billue added 11; Breeana Raffaele,10; Chasen Howard, eight; Taylor Nemeth, four; Callie Wharton, three; and Jaci Trotter and Madison Lasater scored two each. Santo's record is now 22-8. The Santo Lady Cats handed the Archer City Lady Wildcats a 54-31 loss in the area playoff game to advance. Archer City had a slight lead in the first quarter, with a score of 13-12. Santo fought back, scoring 14 points to Archer City's two, taking a 26-15 halftime lead. Flanagan led the Lady Cats, scoring 14 points; with Nemeth adding 11; Howard, 10; Billue, six; Trotter, five; Raffaele, four; and Lasater and Wharton each scored two.
