The Santo Lady Cats won the Class 1A, Division 1, Region 2, tournament Saturday when they beat the Windthorst Lady Trojans 53-47. Santo was scheduled to play Thursday against the Plains High School Cowgirls in the 2014 girls' state semi-final game at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. The title game will be played at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at the center in Austin. To get there, Santo handed the Ivanhoe-Sam Rayburn Lady Rebels a 50-48 loss in the girls regional semi-final game Friday at Abilene Christian University. Santo started with a first quarter lead of 16-9. By the half, the Lady Cats' lead had slipped to 22-17. The Lady Rebels scored 19 points to Santo's 11 to take a 36-33 lead entering the final frame. Santo regained the momentum, scoring 17 points to Ivanhoe-Sam Rayburn's 12 for the win. Payton Billue led the girls with 19 points; Chasen Howard added 12; Breeana Raffaele, 10; Courtney Flanagan, six; and Jaci Trotter, Taylor Nemeth and Madison Lasater scored two points each.
