The Gordon Longhorns placed fourth with 47 points, and the Lady Horns finished in seventh-place with 32 points at the recent Region III-1A, Division II track meet in Bullard.
Four Longhorns earned gold in the 4x400-meter relay team, which included Xavier Castaneda, Garrett Collins, Caleb Johnston and Seth Wheeler, who all qualified for state with a time of 3 minutes, 35.4 seconds.
Castaneda, Johnston, Wheeler and Jacob Wigington won a silver medal, coming in second place in the 4x100-meter team relay with a time of 45 seconds.
Tristen Johnson won a gold medal as she competed in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.30 seconds. She also got third in discus with a 99-foot, 5-inch throw.
Castaneda brought home two silver medals, one in the 300-meter hurdles event and the other in the 4x100-meter team relay.
This Friday and Saturday, May 9-10, Johnson, Castaneda, Collins, Johnston, Wheeler and Wigington, will go to the UIL State Track and Field Meet at the University of Texas’ Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.
